and Totally Integrated Power (TIP) systems. Siemens is uniquely

the business can fully service.
A&D Egypt

and to optimize power consumption in buildings. The group
locally offers complete or partial solutions and systems for the
different industries. A&D partners Egypt in developing a strong
local industrial sector as well as a vibrant export industry. It
supplies a range of innovative solutions that optimize business
and production processes, helping local companies achieve
greater efficiency and profitability.
As a
long-term partner of Egyptian industry, Siemens offers companies
the support needed to enhance their technology investment by
providing extensive on-site and tele-service customer support
programs. In Egypt, Siemens has also established one of three
certified training centers in Africa to serve countries
throughout the Middle East and Africa.
Through a
know-how transfer agreement, A&D supplied the Sugar Integrated
Industries Company (SIIC) with state-of-the-art technology to
build over 150 centrifugal drives, representing nearly 20% of
the 850 Siemens supplied worldwide. Siemens A&D backed SIIC to
meet its regional expansion plans, offering worldwide Siemens
support for the export of five sugar plants to Iran. The company
aims to participte in a string of future regional projects.
Siemens
signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Industrial
Modernization Center (IMC) to develop local Original Equipment
Manufacturers (OEMs).

developing local original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). A&D
supplied the required consulting, engineering, training,
appropriate electrical products to optimize and modernize a
textile spinning machine that Shouman produced.
By the supplying and operating
of the Beni Suef cement plant owned by the internationally
renowned cement company Titan-Lafarge, A&D will empower the
company with all the necessary equipment (including
transformers) and commissioning to begin operations at a
capacity of 12000 KW.
Siemens is annually hosting over
100 trainees in a certified training center. The company’s
commitment to equipment support extends beyond maintenance and
troubleshooting to know-how transfer. The training center
located in Cairo provides courses for a wide range of automation
and drives systems. The center covers Egypt and some neighboring
countries in Africa as far as Kenya and West as Nigeria.
As part of efforts to fight
counterfeit products entering its market, Egypt has recently
established a Brand Protection Group working in co-ordination
with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Industry. The move
follows the approval of a draft consumer protection law in April
2006. The Brand Protection Group is focusing most of its
attention on the domestic market. The body’s immediate concern
is to raise awareness about fake products and the measures that
are being put in place to punish producers or distributors of
counterfeit goods. While significant energies will be invested
in educating customs workers and officials, particular attention
will be focused on Egyptian consumers.
The success
of Automation and Drives in Egypt is evident in the division’s
strong local know-how, its solid record of successful
cooperation with the different Egyptian industries, and its
powerful network of reliable sales channels. These include
system integrators, panel builders, and distributors to ensure
that Siemens products and services are available on the local
market.
