Through
its Power Generation business, Siemens provides the energy to
power Egypt towards a bright and sustainable future.
Power affects every aspect of
daily life. Electricity supplies homes, work places, and the
energy that sustains public amenities. Power drives Egypt’s
economy. As a long-term partner f Egypt’s industry, Siemens
makes energy economical and safe with solutions that cover all
facets of electrical power generation, from turbines and
generators to control and instrumentation equipments. Siemens’
scope also covers operation and maintenance as well as training
programs in various fields of power plant technology.
Siemens
improves the lives of Egyptians by participating in the power
generation that drives Egypt’s infrastructure. Today the company
generates approximately 40% of Egypt’s installed thermal power
capacity, supplying electricity around the country by delivering
highly reliable and durable turbines to power plants in
locations such as Ataka, Damietta, Cairo West, Shoubra El Kheima,
Sidi Krier and Ayoun Moussa. In addition, the group was awarded
contracts to supply, erect and commission eight gas turbines
with a total output of 2000 MW for the Combined Cycle Power
Plant projects in Nubaria, Talkha and El-Kureimat.
Siemens
technology boosts the productivity and competitiveness of power
plants in sectors as diverse as textiles, paper, sugar, and
chemicals. The company built Egypt’s first private sector power
generation facility, MIDELEC, a 180 MW gas turbine power plant,
under a 10-year operation and maintenance contract, undertaken
by local engineers and technicians.
Bringing
the company’s services ever closer to its customers, Siemens
established a Regional Service Office in Cairo in 2000, to serve
power plants in Egypt and in neighboring countries such as
Syria, Jordan, Lebanon.
Siemens PG
has the capacity to deliver turnkey construction and operation
of power plants, plant design and total control of utilities.
Siemens solutions modify and upgrade existing facilities,
increasing plant efficiency, reliability and availability, while
turbines set industry standards for quality, competitive costs,
easy maintenance, and low emissions. As an example the group was
awarded a contract for upgrading of the Instrumentation and
Control Systems for Shoubra El-Kheima Power Plant, located in
Cairo, thus enabling plant operation with improved efficiency,
availability, reliability and reduced emissions.
The company
assures long-term commitment to its customers by following up on
plant performance, providing a comprehensive range of operation
and maintenance strategies. Siemens delivers unrivalled
after-sales service, ensuring customers optimize the output and
efficiency of their infrastructure investments.
Siemens Power Generation aims to continue
supplying Egypt with the energy to drive its society and
economy, powering the country into the future
