Bibliotheca Alexandrina's Discovery Box training session
On Monday 21st of July, the Corporate Communications department
in collaboration with the German University in Cairo have
organized a Discovery Box session in the new Library of
Alexandria also known as “Bibliotheca Alexandrina “.
The Planetarium Science Center at the library managed to gather
a number of one hundred and seventy children aged 5 to 13; they
were from various schools all over Alexandria to participate in
this session that was shown by thirty volunteer instructors from
Siemens, Cairo University, Computer Science department, and GUC.
Though the experiments are easy, every one looked very
energetic, excited and very curios to experience the mystery of
the Discovery Box. For them, it was like a riddle or a
mysterious dilemma that they wanted to explore. They felt
ecstatic and thrilled when they got the chance to do the
experiments by their own hands.
The experience was very productive, fruitful and enjoyable to
the extent that the instructors noticed amazing reactions on the
children’s faces. We can see the children’s reactions as a
combination of some incredible feelings of satisfaction mixed
with an amazing self-confidence, which they felt while
conducting these tests. The training session proved to be
outstanding to the extent that the library committee is looking
forward to make an agreement with us for further sessions.
