Dr. Heinrich v. Pierer, President and CEO of
Siemens AG came to Cairo from the 8th till the 9th of
September 2002. |

In appreciation, most of the Egyptian political
and business elite attended the occasion of the
visit, his appointment as Honorary President of
the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and
Commerce. The Chamber honored him “in
recognition of his service to German-Arab
economic relations and in honor of the
outstanding role and activities of Siemens AG in
Egypt and the other countries of the Middle
East.”
On the 9th of September, President Mubarak
invited Dr. v. Pierer and Dr. Frystacki, to his
Presidential Palace to discuss Egyptian-German
business relations.
Same day, witnessed by H. E. Prime Minister Dr.
Atef Ebeid; H.E. Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Minister of
Communications and Information Technology, and
Dr. Heinrich v. Pierer and Eng. Akil Beshir,
Chairman of Telecom Egypt signed two cooperation
agreements between the Ministry of
Communications and Information Technology,
Telecom Egypt, Siemens AG, Siemens Limited and
EGTI.
A third commitment (LOI) was signed later on in
the afternoon between Dr. Refaat El Sayed, CEO
of HEBI and Siemens I&S.
Dr. v. Pierer rounded his visit by meeting
Siemens and EGTI staff members.
