In
the presence of Mr. El-Mahdi last Tuesday 5th of May, Siemens
honored the Egyptian journalists, who won in the Profile Awards
competition across the African continent.

Promoting high standards of writing and reporting, Siemens
Profile Awards is one of the primary pan-African competition
specialized in journalism, which is devoted exclusively to
science and technology and serves as an incentive to
journalists, writers, freelancers and broadcasters in the
different media channels. The competition has started eight
years ago by Siemens South Africa. Egypt has been an active and
significant participant in the competition. Several Egyptian
journalists won in the competition over the past 5 years. The
categories of Profile Awards 2008 includes: Energy, Industry,
Healthcare, Information Technology, and Technology related
Corporate Social Responsibility.
Mr. El-Mahdi started the ceremony by his speech and presentation
about Siemens followed by the speech of Ms. Abeer Saady, the
judge who represented Egypt in the judging committee in South
Africa, a member of the journalism syndicate and a journalist in
Akhbar Al-Youm newspaper. Then followed by the presentations of
the Business Units Heads: Dr. Hany Loka, Eng. Hatem El-Ghoroury,
Eng. Mohamed El-Wetidy and Eng. Emad Ghaly.
By the end of the ceremony, Mr. El-Mahdi handed the prizes to
the Egyptian winners: Emad El-Sayed from Al-Masry Al-Youm
newspaper for the Healthcare category, Mohamed Lotfy and Ahmed
Awaad from Al-Alam Al-Youm for the Information Technology
category, Hebatallah Abdel Hamid from Alam Rakamy newspaper for
the Technology related Corporate Social Responsibility category.
For the Industry category, Abbas Helmy from Arab Electricity
magazine was the merit award winner.
