Siemens participated in the
“Euro-Mediterranean Innovation
Marketplace”, which was held under the
patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Nazif, the
Prime Minister of Egypt.
The “Euro-Mediterranean Innovation
Marketplace” is the platform for science
and innovation stakeholders from
European and Mediterranean countries to
meet, network and further develop
innovative business ideas, projects and
partnerships. It was held for 3 days
from January 26th - 28th,
2010 at the Fairmont Towers Heliopolis,
Cairo.

Siemens was honored the visits of the
ministers: H.E Dr. Hany Helal, H.E. Mrs.
Fayza Abou-El-Naga, H.E. Dr. Tarek kamel,
and H.E. Dr. Ahmed Darwish. Their
Excellencies passed by Siemens booth in
the “Kids Pavilion” area to watch the
kids doing experiments with the “Green
Box”, which is under "The Green
Generation Initiative" (project
execution by IA DT in cooperation with
CC). The “Green Box”
explains the concept of Energy and
Renewable Energy and how to save the
environment. Energy Saving Ambassadors
have welcomed the kids, who experienced
doing the experiments with their own
hands after being divided into work
teams. The kids have learned how to
generate energy from wind (air), solar
(lamp bulbs), kinetic energy in addition
to knowing how to recycle papers and
thus keeping the environment green.
During the session entitled “Solar
Energy Future”, Mr. El-Mahdi spoke about
the importance of Renewable Energy in
Egypt not only because it will represent
20% from the total Energy percentage in
2020, but also because of the increase
in Energy consumption, which could reach
more than 50% by the year 2030. He also
added that Egypt has a very good
potential in the Renewable Energy
resources and the government has a vital
role to encourage the private sector to
create more investment opportunities for
the development of this field.
Dr. Hany Loka, during the session
entitled “Innovation...Driver of
Growth”, spoke about the importance of
innovation and stressed on the fact that
Siemens encourages and develops the
innovation of the students from
faculties of engineering to reach the
goal of having a skilled labor force
that matches the current market demand.
For that reason, Siemens had an
agreement with the Industrial Training
Council (ITC), which includes 24
engineering faculties to be equipped
with the latest automation technologies
in various universities across Egypt’s
governorates.
