Siemens
Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) won a
contract to execute the electromechanical works
related to the auxiliary buildings of the Grand
Egyptian Museum |
Siemens was chosen as a subcontractor to
SIAC, the Industrial Construction and
Engineering Company headed by Mr. Nehad Ragab,
which was awarded the main contract from the
Ministry of Culture. Mr. Mario Bartelli, Senior
Vice President and Head of Industrial Solutions
and Services in Siemens Limited Egypt, announced
that high quality standards, in-house
capabilities and professional project management
performed by Industrial Solutions and Services
were the major criteria for the decision. The
contract is considered a key - project for
Siemens in the infrastructure sector.
Siemens’ Industrial Solutions and Services will
perform all the engineering, procurement, and
construction activities to serve the auxiliary
buildings of the museum namely the Conservation
Center, Energy Building(s), Security Building
and Fire Station.
The scope of works includes the supply,
installation, testing and commissioning of the
electromechanical components such as; power
supply and distribution, light current systems
(fire alarm, CCTV, Access Control, etc), HVAC,
Plumbing, Fire Fighting and Building Management
Systems (BMS).
Mr. Wael Abu Bakr, Business Development Manager
in Siemens explained that this is only the first
phase of the museum which accounts for about 10%
of the total project and that tenders for the
remaining two buildings are expected to be
announced some time during the first quarter of
2007. He commented that Siemens is keen to take
part in executing the rest of the project as it
is an honor to have a role in such a challenging
national project.
