Siemens’ Automation and
Drives Supplies State-of-the-art Technology for
the Sugar Integrated Industries Company (SIIC)
Through a Know-how Transfer Agreement. |
Siemens was recently awarded a major contract to
supply electrical products for 18 centrifugal
drives to SIIC. The new order comes as part of
the know-how transfer agreement to provide SIIC
with state-of-the-art technology to build
centrifugal drive systems locally, empowering
SIIC to do in-house engineering, assembly and
commissioning. So far 140 centrifugal drive
systems were built locally, representing nearly
20% of Siemens A&D supplies worldwide.
this project does not only aim at supplying
products but state-of-the-art technology
transferring Siemens’ know-how to partners by
providing the necessary consulting, engineering
and training, said Dr. Hany Loka, Siemens Egypt,
Senior Vice President and Head of Automation and
Drives.
“Siemens established a training center to boost
local competence in industrial automation
technology. This center is one of Siemens three
certified training centers in Africa having to
date trained more than 1.000 trainees from
different industrial sectors”, added Loka.
Siemens Automation and Drives Group (A&D),
Nuremberg, Germany, is the leading manufacturer
in this field worldwide. Products supplied by
A&D include standard products for the
manufacturing and process industries and for the
electrical installation industry as well as
system solutions, for example for machine tools,
and solutions for whole industries such as the
automation of entire automobile factories or
chemical plants. Supplementing this range of
products and services, A&D also offers software
for linking production and management
(horizontal and vertical IT integration) and for
optimizing production processes. A&D employs
60,800 people worldwide and in fiscal year 2005
(to September 30) earned a group profit of
€1,210 million on sales of €9,844 million and
