Siemens announces its’
cooperation with the Journalist Syndicate In a
seminar held at the Journalist Syndicate, Mr.
Mohamed El-Mahdi, President and CEO Siemens
North East Africa, announced the cooperation
between Siemens and the syndicate, which entails
awards sponsored by Siemens and presented in
cooperation with the syndicate, Siemens
awareness days and the Profile Awards Contest. |
The competition for the awards sponsored by
Siemens, in the category of Industry and
Transportation, is open till mid August, in
which previously published articles submitted by
the journalists to the Syndicate, will be
evaluated by a judging committee assembled by
Siemens and the Journalist Syndicate to
determine the 1st and 2nd prize winners in each
category. 1st Prize winners will be awarded with
Fujitsu Siemens Laptops, while 2nd place runner
ups will receive a monetary award of L.E. 4000
each.
Mr. Mohamed El-Mahdi also announced that Siemens
will be executing Industrial and Transportation
Awareness Days for the Journalists in November,
represented by the Siemens’ Automation and
Drives as well as Transportation Systems
departments. These Awareness days are expected
to increase the Journalists knowledge and
expertise within those fields and to further
improve the quality of reporting. He mentioned
that the annual trainings will not be confined
to these two fields only as Siemens intends to
present alternative topics each year explaining
that this was merely a beginning of a long term
development plan for Science and Technology
journalism in Egypt.
The third part of the announcement was dedicated
to the Pan African Profile Awards Contest, for
best writing in Science and Technology, done in
cooperation with Siemens South Africa. This
contest was already announced in March 2006, and
Siemens Egypt is receiving entries till
beginning December 2006. Category winners fly to
South Africa in March 2007 to receive their
awards, where the trip is fully paid by Siemens.
