Siemens A&D in cooperation with ITC (Public
Private Partnership PPP) celebrated the
successful completion of the first phase of the
Automation Training Cooperation Initiative that
was signed earlier in February with ITC during
the visit of H.E. Dr. Angela Merkel, German
Chancellor, to improve the quality of vocational
training and link industry with academic
learning through real problem solving
H.E. Rashid Mohamed Rashid, Minister of Trade
and Industry and Head of ITC, H.E. Dr. Hany
Helal, Minister of Higher Education, Mr. Mohamed
El-Mahdi, President and CEO of Siemens in Egypt,
and Eng. Mohamed El Sewedy, Executive Board
member of ITC attended the event and witnessed
the launch of the second phase of the project
which seeks to support the provision of better
services to Industrial Enterprises and monitor
training of Egyptian Human Resources through
Siemens’ quality assurance system.
Mr. El-Mahdi said, “Skilled labor in automation
technology is a key element influencing the
economic efficiency and competence of the
Egyptian industrial workforce”.
Dr. Loka, Senior Vice President and Head of
Siemens A&D, elaborated that the upcoming phase
of the project will cover 8 engineering schools
and 5 training centers.
“The Industrial Academic Link will allow
university students to engage in real lifetime
practical experience through an annual
competition whereby the students are given the
opportunity to solve Egyptian Industry problems
in their graduation projects.” he said.
Siemens and ITC will continue to support the
training centers in the second phase through
assisting in the trainers’ selection process and
granting Siemens training certification, supply
of appropriate training material and curricula
and provision of continuous monitoring and
auditing of the training centers.
Siemens is known to possess several Corporate
Social Responsibility programs such as
Generation 21 that sponsors education worldwide
and especially in Egypt through cooperation with
the Egyptian Education Initiative (EEI) headed
by H.E. the first lady Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak.
