Thursday the 10th of May 2007 marked the second
‘Blood Donation Day’, which comes as part of
Siemens’ worldwide Caring Hands program for
supporting corporate social responsibility, a
duty which Siemens strives to fulfill throughout
all its activities in the country.
The blood donation day took place in the
company’s clinic granting all the employees the
opportunity to share in the company’s humanistic
mission. Studies have shown that donating blood
may reduce risk for heart disease, and
stimulates the generation of red blood cells. In
patients prone to iron overload, blood donation
prevents the accumulation of iron. This is in
addition to the psychological benefit of
resulting from the sense the donor has that
he/she has made a contribution and may have
helped save a person's life while fulfilling a
social duty.
Ms. Sarah Hashish, Head of Corporate
Communications said: “One of our corporate
principles, which we focus on, is embracing
corporate responsibility to advance society. Our
ideas, technologies, and activities help create
a better world. We are committed to universal
values, good corporate citizenship, and a
healthy environment. Integrity guides our
conduct towards our employees, business partners
and shareholders”.
