Helwan Water Treatment
Station Expansion |
Siemens A&D contributes to the expansion of
the Helwan Sewage Water Treatment Station as
part of the electromechanical phase of the
project
Siemens A&D has recently won a contract for the
supply and operation of 5 high voltage motors to
upgrade the capacity of the Helwan Sewage Water
Treatment Station
The project entails the supply and commissioning
of 5 Squirrel-Cage Motors of 1 Mega Watt
capacity / motor at a value of EGP 4,500,000.
Siemens A&D will deliver and install the
equipment in Gharb abu Saadah water pumping
station within 1 year of the contract’s
signature.
Siemens will test the installed equipment
through FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) tests
which are meant to ensure the elimination of any
mechanical and electrical failures as well as
component infant mortality failures, and
software bugs.
Dr. Hany Loka, Senior Vice President of Siemens
Limited Egypt and Head of Automation and Drives,
said “expansion of the treatment station will
pump out 550,000 cubic meters of treated sewage
water compared to a current 350,000 cubic meters
per day covering several areas such as El Maadi,
Gharb Abo Saada, Torah, Helwan, and El Tebbin.
Squirrel-Cage motors are high-voltage
three-phase motors which are known to reduce
energy consumption and therefore cost. The new
motors will ensure a flawless operation and a
flowing stream in the station.
