Siemens answers Egypt’s water
problems |
Siemens Industrial Sector (IS) Egypt and Belgium
have been awarded the Electrical,
Instrumentation and Control packages related to
phase one of the strategic project of the Raw
Water Intake for the New Cairo Water Treatment
Plant – Maadi, Cairo. The Project is a
subcontract of the most experienced contractor
in the Water Field “Mokhtar Ibrahim”
The project which will be executed over the next
five years on four phases, is valued at a total
investment of L.E 10 Billion
The Egyptian government had declared earlier in
2007 its intentions to invest a double digit
billion Egyptian Pound figure in water related
projects during the next 10 years in addition to
further investments in water treatment projects
related to Public Private Partnerships (PPP).
The government’s investment is proof of the
government’s persistence to have clean water
supply for domestic and industrial use.
Siemens’ Industrial Sector will perform all the
engineering, procurement, and construction
activities supply, installation, testing and
commissioning of the electrical components. The
station will support new investment projects in
newly inhabited areas such as New Cairo and Al
Shorooq. |
