Siemens Media Summit unveils remarkable
points of its environmental portfolio and
demonstrates the growth and innovation of its
sectors. |
On Monday 23rd of June 2008, Siemens
President and CEO Peter Löscher presented the
company’s environmental portfolio for the first
time at the Siemens Media Summit in London.
“Last fiscal year, our environmental portfolio
generated revenue of some €17 billion. Siemens
expects annual growth from the portfolio to
total about ten percent over the next few years:
“In 2011, we intend to generate some €25 billion
with ecofriendly products and solutions,” said
Siemens President and CEO Peter Löscher in
London.
Siemens is intensifying its focus – and
targeting leading positions in – high-growth
markets. “With the new setup, clear
responsibilities worldwide and more efficient
processes, Siemens is laying the basis for
reaching its goal”. Nearly two-thirds of the
businesses in Siemens’ three Sectors Industry,
Energy and Healthcare already hold leading
positions in their markets.
The comprehensive portfolio includes solutions
for nearly every environmentally relevant field
of power generation, transmission and
consumption – buildings, lighting,
transportation and industry – as well as
environmental technologies such as water
purification and air pollution controls.
Nearly all Siemens Divisions are contributing to
the company’s environmental portfolio. Some
examples of Siemens’ biggest contributors would
be the following: Gas turbines, energy-efficient
lighting systems, the modernization of old power
plants, wind power systems and ecofriendly
trains. The portfolio also includes products
from the company’s Healthcare Sector.
In recent years, Siemens has optimized energy
consumption in more than 6,500 buildings
worldwide – cutting energy costs and, thus,
emissions by as much as 25 percent.
Below are Siemens’ sectors, which take part as
effective contributors in innovation,
advancement and growth:
Energy Sector: Outstanding growth opportunities
with renewable energies
Synergies across the integrated technology
company are a key contributor to the Energy
Sector’s leadership in sustainable growth
markets.
Industry Sector: Leveraging synergies –
Fostering customer competitiveness
The most important lever for expanding
Siemens’ leading position in the industry market
is an even stronger differentiation in sales and
a rigorous orientation of innovations toward
customer value: “Our customers demand integrated
technologies for more productivity, efficiency
and flexibility. Therefore, as a technology
trendsetter, we’re orienting our products even
more intensively on platforms in order to boost
the success of our solutions business in the
areas of production, mobility and buildings.”
Healthcare Sector: Integrated solutions are
advancing patient care
As the world’s population continues to grow
and age, healthcare providers will face major
challenges in the years to come: to ensure
high-quality care, workflows and systems will
have to become more efficient and more
economical. “With a unique product portfolio,
we’re enabling customers to continue providing
their patients with high-quality and
cost-efficient care”. |
