Siemens S.A.E. has determined that the broader education context is crucial for the future young generation. As part of its role in Corporate Social Responsibility to support education and encourage creativity of Egypts children, the Green Box was created and produced to drive sustainable development by nurturing tomorrows scientists and engineers. On June 2nd, 2011 representatives from Siemens (Dr. Hany Loka - President I IA DT and Mrs. Nermin Fakoussa - Vice President Communications) signed the MOU with Bibliotheca Alexandrina, where 200 Green Boxes were distributed to different schools.
The Green Box, part of the Siemens Green Generation Program, is an educational kit to increase kids knowledge (age 8-12 years) about energy and the importance of utilizing other energy sources to protect the environment. The Green Box contains 10 different experiments on renewable energy, energy efficiency and recycling. It introduces the energy challenges and its major impact on the environment by explaining the different types of renewable energy (solar, wind and hydro) through simple and fun experiments that engage the childs imagination as well as hands-on experience. Activities and quizzes inform kids on energy saving tips and enable them to comprehend that small changes can make a difference. With the experiment kit, children are guaranteed to have fun, finding out about a variety of exciting new environment friendly solutions.
Siemens Energy Saving Ambassadors are a group of dedicated volunteers working at Siemens, who support all Energy Saving activities and guide the kids through the Green Box experiments.
